The "Feed A Thousand Initiative" (FATI) was launched to address the critical issue of food insecurity among the most vulnerable individuals, particularly during the challenging circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the financial strain and hardships faced by many, the foundation swiftly mobilized essential resources including cash, food items, health treatment support, and more. Collaborating closely with NGOs in every state, the initiative was able to effectively mobilize and distribute aid to those in need. In 2020 alone, the FATI initiative successfully provided meals for approximately 27,000 Nigerians, offering crucial support during a time of immense need. As the pandemic continued to impact lives, the IBI Foundation remained dedicated to its mission of feeding the vulnerable. In December 2021 the FATI Outreach was able to mobilize and feed 18,000 Nigerians across the country. The beneficiaries were given the vital sustenance they required to overcome these challenging circumstances. By actively engaging with partners, mobilizing crucial resources, and working tirelessly to ensure the efficient distribution of aid, the FATI initiative has made a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity. The Orphanage Visit Initiative (OVI) is a heartwarming program designed to bring joy, comfort, and support to the residents of orphanages. This initiative involves regular visits to orphanages, where food and household items are donated to enhance the well-being and happiness of the children living there. The OVI initiative began as a simple birthday outreach in February 2018, during which visits were made to two orphanages in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Over time, the initiative grew both in scope and impact, expanding to four orphanages in the FCT in 2019. By 2020, the OVI initiative had made significant strides, reaching out to a total of 10 orphanages - 8 in the FCT, 1 in Borno, and another in Adamawa. In October 2020 coinciding with Independence Day celebrations, another OVI outreach was held and in collaboration with NGOs from 26 states, we were able to visit 27 orphanages. This visit brought joy and happiness to these orphans as 26 orphanages were all connected via zoom where they interacted and shared laughter together. This connection was heartwarming and was sentimental to everyone involved including the care givers, donors and sponsors. It allowed us to provide additional support, warmth, and encouragement to the children in these facilities, leaving a lasting impact on their hearts. In October 2021, the OVI outreach in collaboration with additional NGOs was able to visit 32 orphanages in 32 states of the Federation. The visit to the 32 orphanages was a heartwarming experience filled with different activities with laughter, play, and bonding with the children residing there. They were engaged in creative activities and games with the children, creating a fun and lively atmosphere for everyone involved where we shared stories, snacks, and laughter with the children, fostering a sense of togetherness and care. Through the OVI outreach the IBI Foundation has been able to spread kindness and care to children in need across various regions. These visits not only provide essential items and resources but also create moments of joy and excitement for the residents of the orphanages, fostering a sense of community and support. The growth and expansion of the Orphanage Visit Initiative underscore the foundation's commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and ensuring that they receive the care and support they deserve.
